Democritus is a oil painting by the Spanish painter Diego Velazquez. It was painted in 1628-29. It depicts the Greek philosopher Democritus expressing his amusement at the world. This painting (101 x 81 cm) is currently housed in the Musée des Beaux-Arts et de la Céramique, Rouen.
